Key information
The Witcher 3 has achieved a new all-time concurrent player peak on Steam following the release of its hotly anticipated remaster. According to SteamDB data, the open-world RPG reached a high of 123,359 concurrent players, marking a massive surge compared to its player count peak of just over 30,000 in August.
The remaster is available for free to players who already own the base game. Additionally, the title is currently discounted at half-price during Steam's autumn sale. Concurrently, various mods for the game have received compatibility upgrades following the remaster's launch.
When the original game was first reviewed in 2015, it received a 92% score, being praised as a sprawling action RPG featuring rich stories and oppressive darkness. Reviewers noted that rather than reinventing the modern RPG genre, the title succeeded through a bar-setting series of refinements across Andrzej Sapkowski's setting.
