Team17 has officially announced The Escapists 3, the latest entry in its cooperative prison-break franchise. Revealed during the Triple-i showcase, the game is scheduled for release in 2027.
The title shifts away from the series' traditional pixel art aesthetic, adopting a 3D cartoon style while maintaining the familiar top-down camera perspective. Development is handled by Mouldy Toof Studios, which has been an internal team under Team17 since September 2016.
Gameplay remains consistent with previous entries, focusing on daily prison routines, crafting gadgets for escapes, stat-building exercises, and navigating various environments ranging from standard prisons to mines. Players will encounter familiar obstacles like pool lasers and large-scale brawls.
The game is confirmed for launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and the Switch 2 in 2027. Further details remain limited as no official press release has been issued.
