Key information

Microsoft has officially unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra, a new laptop featuring the NVIDIA RTX Spark superchip, starting at US$ 2599. Alongside this, the company introduced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a mini PC priced at US$ 5999.

The RTX Spark chip utilizes the same GB10 Grace Blackwell architecture found in NVIDIA's DGX Spark. The laptop offers two configurations: an entry-level model with a 5120-core GPU and 18-core CPU, and a high-performance version featuring a 6144-core GPU and 20-core CPU. Microsoft claims the chip outperforms the Apple M5 Pro in MacBook Pro, delivering 2.1 times the token performance, 4.3 times the image generation speed, and 6.2 times the video generation speed.

The 15-inch Surface Laptop Ultra features a 3:2 mini-LED IPS display with a 3270 x 2180 resolution. It weighs 2 kg and measures 17.99 mm in thickness. Notably, it is the first device to incorporate a magnetic USB-C charging port. The Dev Box, housed in a CNC aluminum chassis, supports a 100W thermal design power and includes 128 GB of unified memory and a 2TB PCIe 5.0 SSD.

Both devices are currently available for pre-order. The Surface Laptop Ultra is scheduled to begin shipping on October 16, while the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is slated for release on November 24.
