Key information
Supermassive Games, known for Until Dawn and the upcoming Directive 8020, has lost more than 70 workers, concluding the cuts that the company had previously announced in August.
The news was confirmed by Frank Tindle, former IT and facilities director at the studio. In a message shared on LinkedIn, Tindle revealed that more than 70 people are leaving the developer, with the departures impacting programmers, artists, producers, and members of the QA team.
Back in August, the studio had warned it would proceed with a workforce reduction process that could lead to the departure of up to 75 people. At the time, management explained the measure was necessary to keep the studio doors open and secure its future.
Previously, in July 2025, Supermassive laid off around 36 people to adapt its team to industry changes, a personnel reduction that ultimately caused a delay for Directive 8020.
