Key information
Blizzard is addressing significant player frustration by rolling back controversial in-game economy adjustments in a recent public test realm build for StarCraft II. A previous update deployed in June had altered early game resources and worker counts, sparking intense community backlash.
According to developers, the original goal was experimenting with new systems involving workers and allowing the metagame sufficient time to evolve for accurate player evaluation. Developer statements confirm that patch 5.0.17 will revert most balance adjustments introduced previously, returning the title from version 5.0.16 back to the state seen in version 5.0.15.
These modifications mean early game resource totals and worker counts are returning entirely to their original values. The updated testing build also introduces specific adjustments directed at various units and structures.
