Key information
Following the successful release of the strategy title Star Wars Zero Company, developer Bit Reactor has begun rehiring staff members who were previously furloughed. CEO Greg Foerstch confirmed the development on X, characterizing the move as a vital step toward providing ongoing support for the game.
The studio previously faced significant instability, with reports indicating that 80% of the workforce was furloughed shortly after the game's launch. Foerstch stated that the decision to reduce staff was a necessary response to unexpected business challenges, aimed at ensuring the long-term viability of the team.
Legal documents uncovered by Game File revealed additional internal turmoil, including a $20 million lawsuit filed by former COO Alison Kelly against co-founder Greg Foerstch regarding ownership disputes. Despite these complications, the studio continues to maintain the game, which recently received a 1.1 Patch on Sept. 9 to address performance and gameplay issues.
While official future content remains unannounced, fans have already begun expanding the experience. A modder named Cafiso released an unofficial expansion titled Aftermath, which introduces over 1,000 cycles, new factions, and additional boss encounters to the base game.
