Key information
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer is available today for XBOX Series X|S and can be purchased on the XBOX Store alongside the STAR WARS: Galactic Racer Deluxe Edition. Developed by Fuse Games, the title introduces a runs-based racing loop where failure carries heavy mechanical consequences, such as forfeiting a League Token after too many crashes.
Creative Director Kieran Crimmins and Co-founder Steve Uphill explain that the game’s signature wreck-out system provides consequence and mechanical rewards. Players select a vehicle type like a skim speeder, speeder bike, or landspeeder, pair it with a Racer Style, and then add abilities, parts, and upgrades that synergize with their build across different events.
The title features both temporary stats and permanent progression routes that unlock new favors, larger part pools, and upgraded Racer Styles. Multiplayer sessions mirror this runs-based philosophy with shorter session times, culminating in a final knockout event where players can still earn XP by voting on who they think will win.
To keep races flowing smoothly, crash sequences are procedurally generated rather than pre-canned, lasting a maximum of up to eight seconds. Steve Uphill noted that the camera system automatically calculates vehicle speed, trajectory, and obstacles in milliseconds to ensure every impact feels immersive and weighted across all four distinct vehicle types.
