Key information
Skydance has appointed former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick to its board of directors. This move follows the recent merger between Paramount and Warner Bros., which established Skydance as a major entity spanning film, television, and gaming.
David Ellison, CEO of Skydance, praised Kotick’s leadership, noting his ability to manage a global entertainment company and his skill in creating long-lasting franchises. Ellison highlighted Kotick’s strategic decision-making and disciplined capital allocation as key assets for the newly formed organization.
While Kotick will not oversee specific video game operations, his influence is expected to be significant regarding the company's gaming strategy. This includes oversight of studios such as Rocksteady, NetherRealm, and TT Games, which are now part of the Skydance portfolio.
The appointment has drawn mixed reactions, as some critics previously questioned Kotick's tenure at Activision Blizzard. Despite this, Skydance remains committed to leveraging his experience, alongside other board members like former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
