Key information

A new fan-made modding platform called ReSkate has emerged for EA's 2025 free-to-play reboot, Skate. Created by developers zee_x64 and ReGlitched, the tool allows users to bypass the game's online-only ecosystem to access offline play, private servers, and custom maps. As of Tuesday, the software had been downloaded over 350,000 times.

ReSkate functions by hooking into the Steam version of Skate, enabling features like custom assets and Linux compatibility via Proton. The developers state they do not intend to replace the live game or facilitate the theft of premium cosmetics. While the project is open source, the creators have confirmed they will comply if EA issues a cease and desist order.

Full Circle, the studio behind Skate, issued a statement on October 9 supporting community creativity but warning against mods that unlock paid cosmetics, release gated content, or profit from unauthorized assets. Some players have expressed concerns that the modding platform could negatively impact the game's future, potentially leading EA to view the title as a failed experiment.

Users should be aware that installing ReSkate may trigger antivirus software due to techniques like DLL injection. While the developers maintain these flags are false positives, they note that they cannot vouch for the security of the more than 70 forks currently available on GitHub.
