Jagex has announced RuneScape Reignited, a fresh character mode designed to provide a clean slate for both new and returning players. Revealed at RuneFest 2026, this permanent game type is scheduled to launch on 2 December.
The mode introduces a completely new economy and dedicated hiscores. According to the developer, these characters will feature no paid progression options, aiming to offer an experience described as how the game was always meant to be.
Reignited characters will inhabit the same game worlds as existing players. Jagex confirmed that these users will receive free access to members' content for the first 10 days after the launch, allowing them to explore the world alongside the current community.
This update arrives alongside The Adventure Guide and other remastering efforts on 2 December. Additionally, Jagex revealed a fourth RuneScape MMO currently in development using Unreal Engine, plus an upcoming animated adaptation.
