Key information

Square Enix announced that a demo for the extraction action RPG Vaultbreakers, developed by BetaDwarf, is now available on Steam as of October 9, 2026. The title is supported globally through the Square Enix Collective publishing initiative.

Vaultbreakers features a top-down perspective where players navigate dangerous environments in PvE or PvPvE modes. The core objective involves collecting ancient artifacts and successfully extracting them to a safe base. Failure to extract results in the loss of gathered items, requiring players to rely on accumulated knowledge and personal skill to reach the depths of the Dragon Vault.

The current demo allows users to select one of two playable characters to explore early-game maps, supporting both solo and cooperative play. However, the demo excludes the PvPvE mode and additional characters.

These restricted features will be accessible during an alpha playtest scheduled on Steam from October 16 to 23, or in the final product. Developers noted that the alpha test may contain some sections not yet localized into Japanese. Pricing and the official release date remain unannounced.
