Key information

Sorpasso Games, an Italian indie development studio, has published the Steam store page and announcement trailer for their single-player highway battle RPG, Ghosts of the Mountain Pass.

Set in the Italian Riviera during the late 1990s, the game features one-on-one street races across coastal hairpins, Tuscan hills, mountain roads, and port ring roads while exploring a summer story about a past racing era.

The title utilizes a mechanic reminiscent of Tokyo Xtreme Racer SP battles, where trailing vehicles lose health as distance grows, requiring drivers to keep rivals in view to deplete their opponent's gauge first.

Players begin with three fictional vehicles based on 1980 to 1990s cars, upgrading them using parts won from defeated rivals. The driving model uses Pacejka's Magic Formula operating at 120Hz alongside customizable electronic assists.

Pricing and release timing remain unannounced. The game currently supports only English, with Japanese localization under consideration by the developer.
