Key information

Baroque Decay, the studio behind Yuppie Psycho and The Count Lucanor, has announced that its horror RPG Catechesis is scheduled for release in summer 2027. Originally unveiled in 2013 as the developer's debut project, the title faced a long hiatus due to its expanding scope before being revived after more than a decade.

Players control Daniel, an altar boy attempting to save his grandfather. The gameplay features a dual-life structure where Daniel navigates daily school and work responsibilities by day, while exploring dungeons to combat demons by night. A core narrative conflict involves Daniel being possessed; performing good deeds inadvertently opens portals to hell.

Combat utilizes a top-down perspective with twin-stick controls, requiring players to manage melee and ranged weaponry alongside dodging and aiming mechanics. Stealth elements incorporating light and sound are also integrated into the experience.
