Key information
At the OSAKA INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2026, MIBUKI STUDIO showcased a demo for QUEEN'S GUARD, a hardcore sword-fighting action adventure game coming to PC via Steam. Players assume the role of a bodyguard protecting a princess in a fallen kingdom, navigating tense, realistic melee combat set within a medieval world.
Developer tatsu, who has a background in sword arts, designed the game to emphasize realistic combat mechanics. Players must manipulate enemy alertness and exploit openings, as reckless attacks are easily blocked. Combat requires careful management of distance and timing, with mechanics like parrying and strong attacks used to break through enemy defenses.
Beyond direct combat, the game incorporates stealth elements, allowing players to perform surprise attacks by approaching enemies silently while sheathed. While the protagonist does not feature traditional numerical stat growth, the princess can be developed over time, evolving from a vulnerable charge into a capable combat companion.
The title features full voice acting to enhance narrative immersion. Originally conceived as an RPG, tatsu shifted the focus toward an adventure-oriented experience. The game is currently scheduled for release in 2027, and interested players can follow updates via the official Steam store page.
