Key information
PUBG Studios has officially announced the cancellation of its extraction shooter spin-off, PUBG: Black Budget. After reviewing the project's progress and future trajectory, the company concluded that the current development direction would not sustain a long-term engaging experience for players, leading to the decision to shut it down.
The development team expressed gratitude to participants who joined the closed Alpha tests and provided feedback. They stated that the insights and experience gathered throughout the testing phase will be applied to future projects as they continue exploring new gameplay concepts.
Announced as a first-person PvPvE extraction shooter, PUBG: Black Budget tasked players with exploring a mysterious time-looping island to gather resources, complete faction contracts, and successfully extract. Survivors could then use looted materials to research technologies, craft gear, and expand their base.
The title previously held closed Alpha tests across two phases in December 2025. It retained gunplay elements and the shrinking zone mechanic from PUBG, shifting the primary match objective toward escaping with loot rather than being the last player alive.
