Key information
Nintendo Life reports that Pokémon HOME version 4.1.0 has enabled support for the Nintendo Switch editions of FireRed and LeafGreen. The official Japanese site confirms an October 2026 connection window. Eligible Pokémon can move into HOME and onward to compatible Pokémon games.
Transfers are one-way. Pokémon sent from these two games cannot return, and HOME cannot import Pokémon caught in other games into FireRed or LeafGreen. Players should decide which Pokémon they still need in the original save before sending them.
The official rules specify box transfers. A box containing held items, Hidden Machine moves or Eggs cannot be sent. Certain special Pokémon normally obtainable only once are limited to one transfer per save. Altered or otherwise problematic Pokémon may also be rejected.
Pokédex registrations in a linked game carry over to HOME without requiring every registered Pokémon to be transferred. Completing the FireRed and LeafGreen software Pokédex in mobile HOME unlocks a Celebi Mystery Gift with the Japanese original trainer name ミツリン. Celebi is not normally encountered in either game.
This makes HOME a route from the Kanto adventures to other compatible titles. It does not create unrestricted two-way trading between HOME and those original saves.
