On October 3, 2026, the OSAKA INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2026 hosted an open public session organized by the Kinki Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry at Congress Square Grand Front Osaka in Umeda, Osaka. The event marked the first review committee meeting for the initiative aimed at establishing a game development ecosystem originating from the Kinki region.
Six committee members from diverse backgrounds within Kansai's gaming sector spoke during the session, which was facilitated by Ryohei Hata of Itpitsu LLC and Game Pavilion JP. Discussions highlighted how indie creators in the region benefit from strong peer bonds, frequent collaboration, and regional community activities.
Speakers addressed the immense difficulties of completing and selling original indie titles despite lower barriers to starting development due to modern game engines and AI. Panelists emphasized that while community events like BitSummit serve as vital checkpoints, sustainable public support and structured business frameworks are needed to help talented creators continue building games.
