Key information

At The Tenth Mosaic event, a dedicated session moderated by Shuhei Yoshida featured next-generation independent creators Namitakahashi, developer of ElecHead and Öoo, and yona, creator of DareKare. The discussion highlighted how these young creators chose the path of game development and overcame early career hurdles.

Namitakahashi chose personal development after studying at a game vocational school, eventually releasing ElecHead in 2021 and Öoo in 2025. Meanwhile, yona joined Kyoto-based developer and publisher room6 as a programmer before creating In His Time and the 2025 global success DareKare, after receiving guidance from editor Yuki Katayama to focus on a personal narrative.

Both creators discussed how working within strict constraints and acknowledging personal limitations helped forge their unique styles. Namitakahashi strategically aims to release short titles every two years or so, while yona emphasized that accepting one's small scale and struggling within those limits ultimately fosters an unmistakable authorial voice.
