Ninja Theory developers are facing redundancy following a consultation process with Xbox that came after a second wave of cuts. In July, Xbox announced a major restructuring business plan involving planned job reductions and studio cuts.
Xbox attempted to transfer ownership of Ninja Theory to another company so the studio could continue developing games. However, Xbox COO Matt Booty confirmed in a letter that two separate sale agreements ultimately fell through.
As the studio moved toward closure, employees took to LinkedIn to express their sadness and appreciation for their colleagues. Staff members such as Daniele Galante, Katrin Mair, and Stefano Prosperi shared public messages about facing job risks.
The mass reorganization has not yet concluded, leaving workers at other Xbox-owned studios fearful of future reductions. Ninja Theory previously created the acclaimed Hellblade series, with Hellblade 2 earning a five-star review in 2024.
