Key information
Square Enix and Behaviour Interactive have launched a new crossover bringing three characters from Nier: Automata into the asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game Dead by Daylight. The collaboration was announced via a reveal trailer on social media and became available on Oct. 6. Creative director Dave Richard noted a strong thematic connection between the two universes regarding cycles of violence and suffering, offering a chance to celebrate Nier: Automata.
Rather than entirely new additions, the crossover content features character reskins. Feng Min receives a Legendary Outfit for a 2B skin, and Yui Kimura receives a Legendary Outfit for an A2 skin. These outfits include unique music, voice lines, HUD icons, and menu idle animations. Additionally, The Legion receives a Very Rare Outfit inspired by Emil, and the collection features Pod 042 along with Legendary portraits for 2B and A2.
Square Enix has not announced a true sequel to Nier: Automata, which was released nearly a decade ago, instead focusing on various game crossovers. Yoko Taro previously joked that these crossovers happen because he works for money. Taro previously created the mobile gacha game Nier: Reincarnation, which served as an overarching story continuation before shutting down in 2024. In 2025, Taro revealed that several of his attempted new projects had been canceled.
