Key information
Taiwanese independent developer Chen Liang-Yu has announced that the in-development simulation and narrative game NEKO MAKER 2: Starlit Girl has launched a free playable demo on Steam. Players can now experience the nurturing system and game world firsthand, with the title also scheduled to participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
In the game, players act as a guardian responsible for a girl across a 12-year span from the age of 6 to 18. Each month requires scheduling her lifestyle, education, and activities while managing her stress and emotions. Decisions made by the player shape her abilities, talents, bonds, and ultimate life direction, leading to multiple branch paths, endings, and hidden content across playthroughs.
Alongside daily nurturing mechanics, the title features a central mystery plotline titled the Mystery of Starlit Cage. Players will explore a port town, participate in events and competitions, befriend various NPCs, and piece together clues and puzzle fragments to uncover the girl's past, hidden secrets, and unspoken thoughts revealed through her diary.
