Key information
Artstorm, the developer of the PvP naval warfare game Modern Warships, acknowledged using a creation by independent concept artist Alex Jay Brady as the basis for an in-game ship. The issue emerged after Brady posted comparisons showing the striking similarities between their atomic ekranoplan carrier design and the in-game model known as the RF Bartini A-2000-7.
Brady stated that permission was never granted for the design, noting that the in-game model carried over nearly all details and specific mistakes from the original artwork. To acquire the RF Bartini A-2000-7 in the free-to-play game, players must spend between $50 and $100 on gacha spins, or use in-game currency ranging from 7,000 AC to over 15,000 AC, with ArtCoins valuing roughly $100 for 1,300 to 2,000 AC, translating to higher costs depending on market fluctuations.
Following the popularity of the post on X, Artstorm issued an apology to Brady, admitting the design was used as a reference without proper clearance and stating they would contact the artist directly to resolve the matter. Publisher Gaijin confirmed the team's response on X but declined to provide further details, while Brady indicated the situation would be considered closed if an acceptable offer is made.
