Key information
Minecraft is arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. Players who previously purchased the digital version of the game for the original Nintendo Switch are eligible for a free upgrade to the new console's edition.
The updated version features enhanced visuals, including improved sunrise lighting, water reflections, and forest shading. Additionally, the release includes a Super Mario mash-up pack containing 15 tracks and 40 player skins.
This free upgrade offer is available exclusively through the eShop until the end of January 2027. Alternatively, users may choose to upgrade to the Deluxe or Ultimate Collection editions at a discounted price.
Owners of the physical edition of Minecraft for the original Nintendo Switch are currently excluded from this free upgrade promotion. There is no confirmation yet regarding whether physical copy owners will receive access to the Switch 2 version in the future.
