Key information
Unity has announced support for Meta VR Glasses after Meta Connect 2026. The article places retail launch in spring 2027 and explains how developers can prepare using existing Quest-oriented projects and Unity’s OpenXR tools before that launch.
Unity 6.6 or later is required for the supported workflow. The guidance starts from the Meta Quest Build Profile and combines OpenXR, XR interaction and hand tools. The Interaction Simulator lets developers inspect input behavior while physical hardware is not yet available.
The device’s hand and eye input changes interface design priorities. Unity recommends reviewing interactions around those capabilities while preserving controller input where a game depends on it. The article also describes eye-tracked rendering, quad-view rendering and spatial audio as relevant development features.
Examples of projects already being built include Cardmada, Dragon Grove, Supernatural and Two Point Hospital – Mixed Reality Edition. Those examples illustrate development underway, rather than implying that the new device is already on sale. Existing Quest assets and code can carry forward, but the article still calls for input and interface validation.
