Key information
Wizards of the Coast has unveiled Magic: The Gathering Darkhold Destiny, a new Marvel collaboration set scheduled for release on April 8. Unlike previous Marvel sets focused on existing canon, this release features an original storyline centered on Doctor Strange, Thor, and Ghost Rider battling Hela and Dormammu.
The set introduces several new mechanics, including Vengeance, which functions similarly to the Adventure mechanic but allows casting from the graveyard. Additionally, the game brings back the Arcane subtype and introduces a mysterious new card type called Dimension. Basic lands will feature two variants reflecting the world before and after the invasion.
Product offerings include four commander decks, booster packs, and scene boxes containing unique cards. While the panel provided significant details, Wizards of the Coast noted that much remains unrevealed. The set also features a legendary artifact, The Darkhold, and dual-faced cards like Magik, who can transform into Darkchild.
Additional content includes three Secret Lair drops and a countdown kit launching November 2. Promotional items, such as a Doctor Doom card for the Avengers Doomsday movie, were also announced. Despite the excitement, the publisher maintains that many details remain under wraps until closer to the April launch.
