Microsoft has addressed recent speculation regarding Grand Theft Auto 6, clarifying that the title will not be available to stream to personal computers through Xbox Cloud Gaming. This statement corrects prior media coverage suggesting exclusive streaming agreements had been secured.
The initial coverage by The Verge asserted that Microsoft obtained exclusive game-streaming permissions, pointing to remarks from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma about an unprecedented initiative. Nevertheless, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball disputed the accuracy of those claims directly.
According to Ball, while the November 19 console launch approaches, the software will not be streamable exclusively or onto personal computers. Consequently, individuals hoping to bypass hardware requirements through cloud services on launch day will be unable to do so.
Rockstar has not yet confirmed a personal computer edition for the game, leaving launch availability restricted to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware. Meanwhile, Microsoft prepares updates to its cloud platform, including a pay-as-you-go purchase structure.
