Key information
Independent studio Gravity Well, established by former Respawn Entertainment staff, has announced a significant reduction in its workforce. The company confirmed that it parted ways with over 40 developers after losing its financial backing this summer.
Founders Drew McCoy, Jon Shiring, and Mon Saetern stated that the team was kept informed throughout the process. They expressed regret that they were unable to secure new funding in time to prevent the layoffs and keep the staff together.
While a smaller group remains to continue operations, the studio describes its future as uncertain. The leadership cited the current state of the industry as a major factor in these ongoing challenges.
Gravity Well is actively seeking a new partner to ensure its survival. In the meantime, the studio has requested that other organizations consider hiring the developers impacted by these recent personnel changes.
