Key information

Unity has launched Simulation Pro in Early Access as a robotics simulation toolkit. The package targets teams working on robot validation, sensor testing and synthetic training data, building on workflows previously implemented with Unity Industry.

Its components include a URDF importer for an existing robot description, simulated LiDAR, camera and inertial sensors, ROS 2 compatibility and a headless Linux build target. Together, these features connect a robot’s physical structure, simulated observations and external software while allowing runs without a graphical interface.

The article presents customer examples from autonomous driving, manufacturing and surgical-system research. They illustrate uses such as generating synchronized sensor data, replaying robot motion and recording a digital twin; they are case studies rather than a claim that one simulation automatically validates a physical deployment.

Early Access begins September 22 and requires a Unity Industry license. Unity also provides a robotics learning pathway and invites feedback from teams running simulation at scale. The announcement is about access to a supported development package, with real-world testing and deployment remaining separate responsibilities.
