Key information
Publisher 4Divinity announced the release of a Steam demo for Guns of Eschaton on the 5th. Developed by Eschatology Entertainment, the new first-person shooter combines a Western setting with steampunk and occult elements, featuring design contributions from Viktor Antonov, known for his work on Half-Life 2 and Dishonored.
The game's narrative follows ordinary humans who lost everything in an event called 'The Burning,' fighting their way back home through a ruined world filled with monsters. Players utilize a revolver and over 20 types of 19th-century firearms that reflect period-authentic recoil and reload mechanics.
Survival requires managing realistic gun mechanics and exploiting weaknesses recorded in a notebook called a Codex. Players can also utilize special ammunition, talismans, armor, consumables, skills, and abilities learned from legendary gunslingers, with support for both single-player and multiplayer modes.
According to the developers, the demo released on the 5th edits together specific areas, enemies, and boss battles to provide an abbreviated experience of the game's core shooting feel and action difficulty, while intentionally withholding larger elements to preserve the sense of world exploration for the full release.
