Key information
Playground Games has officially confirmed that the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 is delayed until 2027. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the racing title is now scheduled for release on January 26, 2027, moving away from the previously anticipated 2026 launch window.
This announcement follows a period of uncertainty regarding the port's status. Playground Games had previously denied rumors of a delay, though the studio recently issued an apology on X regarding its communication lapses concerning game updates and technical fixes.
The franchise continues to demonstrate significant commercial success. Alinea Analytics reports that Forza Horizon 6 has already moved over 7.4 million units and earned approximately $534.3 million in revenue since its May 19 debut on Xbox Series X and Windows PC.
The delay occurs amidst broader shifts within the Xbox division, which has faced significant restructuring and workforce reductions. While the series has historically performed well on PlayStation, it remains uncertain if Microsoft will maintain its strategy of bringing future franchise entries to rival platforms.
