Key information
First announced in 2020, Forever Ago is the debut project from indie studio Third Shift. The narrative adventure follows a mid-seventies protagonist named Alfred traveling north in a weathered van on a journey of self-discovery and grief. Co-founder Kai Brueckers explained that the route originated from a trip along the Pacific Coast, and the game is based on real people and events.
Spanning 9 chapters, the title takes 3 to 5 hours to finish. Gameplay resembles an interactive film or walking simulator featuring light puzzles, photography, environmental interaction, and picture taking. The camera serves as a primary tool to unlock memories, letting players select up to 4 photos per chapter for their journal.
On PlayStation 5, the software occupies 4.3 GB and supports power saver mode alongside DualSense features like light bars, speakers, and vibrations. Piotr Michael voices Alfred, Cissy Jones portrays Audrey, and Clark Aboud composed the original score. The release is scheduled for October 8, 2026.
