Key information
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation continues the remake trilogy, picking up shortly after the events of Rebirth as the party pursues Sephiroth into the Northern Crater. The narrative explores Cloud’s deteriorating mental state while introducing a more vibrant, cosmic aesthetic to the iconic location. A notable character change involves Red XIII, now referred to as Nanaki, who adopts a more youthful voice following his development in Cosmo Canyon.
The demo introduced playable characters Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind. Vincent utilizes long-range attacks and can transform into the Galian Beast, while Cid focuses on rapid polearm strikes and dragoon-style aerial maneuvers. Both characters are described as powerful additions to the roster, though the reviewer expressed curiosity regarding potential power creep compared to earlier party members.
A new feature called FITS, or Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, allows players to customize skill loadouts and channel summons like Ifrit or Shiva for elemental attacks. While the reviewer found the system functional, they questioned the necessity of these additional submenus, noting that the synergy skills felt somewhat superfluous and potentially cluttered the otherwise snappy combat system.
The preview also noted a change in voice acting for Sephiroth, with Travis Willingham replacing Tyler Hoechlin. The reviewer found this transition jarring. Additionally, the game is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
