Key information
The upcoming DMZ mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch globally on October 23. Set in the new Haijin map, this open-world combat environment follows the events of the main campaign, tasking players with completing objectives, gathering items, and successfully extracting before losing their progress.
Players utilize a Forward Operating Base to craft equipment via a 3D printer. This system requires collecting basic resources like electronics and metals, alongside rare ingredients such as biomaterials. These materials are essential for upgrading the base and producing gear, which can be stored or equipped for future incursions.
The mode features three primary engagement types: Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and Free Exploration. Story Missions provide narrative-driven, repeatable objectives with specific rewards, while Dynamic Operations offer squads chances to earn XP and DMZ currency. Additionally, the Persistent Operators system allows players to level up characters and invest points into specialized skill trees, though failed extractions carry the risk of losing gear or requiring costly recovery.
Digital pre-orders of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 grant early access to the campaign starting October 16, with full DMZ content becoming available on October 20. The mode emphasizes high-stakes extraction, where players must secure their loot and survive against rival operators to ensure their progress contributes to future operations.
