Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature a new open-world mode called DMZ, set on the Hajin map following the main campaign. Players must loot, complete objectives, and extract from the environment to succeed.
The mode introduces a 3D Printer at the Forward Operating Base for crafting equipment. Players collect resources like metals and chemicals, or rarer ingredients found in Hajin, to build loadout upgrades and items.
DMZ offers Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and Free Roam. Story Missions provide narrative-led objectives, while Dynamic Operations allow squads to pursue goals for rewards like Cash and XP. Persistent Operators gain traits through three trees, though failing to extract risks losing gear or requiring expensive recovery.
Digital pre-orders grant Early Access to the campaign starting Friday, October 16, and DMZ on Tuesday, October 20. The game is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but not on Xbox One or Game Pass.
