Key information

Valve's MOBA title Deadlock has reached a new milestone, recording 262,145 simultaneous players according to SteamDB. This figure surpasses the all-time concurrent peak of 253,997 previously held by Team Fortress 2.

The surge in activity coincided with a major update that introduced six new heroes to the game. Among these additions is Solomon, a chess-themed mage whose weapon functions as a chessboard, reportedly displaying unique historical game states upon reloading.

The update also implemented a new ranked mode, which Valve cautioned may experience instability during its initial rollout. Additionally, the game received a visual overhaul, and developers are currently working on future features including hero cosmetics and new game modes.

Despite this growth, Valve maintains that Deadlock remains in an invite-only testing phase and is currently too unfinished for a full public release. The project has been in development for several years, with momentum building since initial leaks surfaced two years ago.
