Mintrocket has revealed a new collaboration between Dave the Diver and Subnautica 2. This crossover allows the protagonist, Dave, to travel through a portal to the ocean moon featured in Subnautica 2, encountering its distinct alien wildlife and massive Leviathans.
Studio director Jaeho Hwang noted that the partnership aims to introduce a fresh perspective to the Dave the Diver experience by leveraging the unique exploration style of Subnautica. Creative director Anthony Gallegos described the expansion as a mutual love letter between the two development teams.
While the trailer highlights Dave's journey into the Subnautica universe, there is no confirmation regarding a reciprocal appearance in Subnautica 2. This omission is perhaps expected given that Subnautica 2 is currently in early access.
Subnautica 2 recently received a Buddy System update in August, which introduced proximity chat, emotes, and improved trading mechanics. Further updates regarding the game's development are expected to be shared through a new video series launching this month.
