Key information
SEGA is reviving its classic arcade franchise with Crazy Taxi: World Tour, scheduled for release in 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. This upcoming title marks the first entry in the series to feature a multiplayer mode, aiming to blend the chaotic, high-speed gameplay of the 1999 original with expanded global environments.
The core gameplay remains focused on arcade-style driving where players must transport passengers under strict time limits. GamingDose reports that signature mechanics like Crazy Drift and Crazy Dash are returning, allowing for sharp cornering and rapid acceleration. The experience prioritizes fast-paced decision-making, encouraging players to ignore traffic laws and navigate through dense urban environments to maximize scores.
The game introduces diverse maps inspired by real-world locations, including Germany and Tokyo. GamingDose noted that the Germany map offers open, architectural variety, while the Tokyo map, showcased at TGS 2026, appears more complex with dense landmarks like Shibuya 109 and unique local passenger types. These environments are part of a six-map roster, with San Francisco also confirmed.
While the initial impressions of the driving mechanics are positive, GamingDose notes that the overall quality remains to be seen. The developers must balance new content with the series' fast, intuitive rhythm. Further details regarding the multiplayer mode and the remaining three unrevealed maps are expected closer to the 2027 launch.
