Key information

Control Resonant is available now on PlayStation 5, distinguishing itself with gravity-defying environments, memorable boss fights, and a unique take on Manhattan. Developers Anne-Marie Grönroos, Elmeri Raitanen, and Sergey Mohov detailed the inspirations behind the game's art direction, characters, and environments.

The game features a superhuman protagonist named Dylan, whose movements and combat emphasize realism and human vulnerability. Developers designed Dylan to show that his abilities and gravity manipulation come with a physical cost, causing him to experience difficulty and disorientation.

The map, referred to as Strange York, combines the claustrophobic and brutalist style of the original Control with the wider spaces of Manhattan. A normal zone called Central serves as an unchanged anchor point, creating a stark contrast with surrounding paranormal environments and a new supernatural threat known as the Patterning.

Explnying the hardware, the development team utilized the power of the PS5 to deliver larger areas, greater draw distances, more physical objects, and more enemies on screen, making it Remedy's most ambitious game. Furthermore, the game integrates DualSense controller features, using adaptive triggers and the built-in speaker to enhance combat immersion without relying on the interface.
