Key information

Capcom has shared its plans regarding artificial intelligence and its proprietary engine, following an earlier communication to investors in June expressing intentions to utilize AI in game production to allow staff to focus on creative work.

During the Capcom Open Conference RE:2026, programmer Satoshi Ishida discussed the REX Project, an ongoing initiative addressing major modern production challenges. These challenges include massive game scales requiring extensive versions and adjustments that slow production, the RE Engine being used by over two thousand people requiring multilingual support and greater accessibility, and the necessity for AI to be integrated directly into production rather than treated as an extra.

Within the REX Project, Capcom is developing systems to establish new data processing standards across formats, engine interface enhancements with tools to assist workers, and a feature named RE:Log that automatically switches text language based on the user's system identification.

Ishida highlighted RE:Flows, a tool that automatically converts visual scripts into standard code, illustrating Capcom's goal of using AI to handle repetitive tasks like creating or modifying code so human workers gain more time for creative endeavors.
