Key information
The PlayStation 4 action role-playing game Bloodborne, originally released in March 2015, is now playable natively on PC through a project called bbport. This development allows the title to run without relying on traditional emulation software.
Instead of simulating console hardware, bbport executes the game's original code directly. It utilizes a custom runtime to substitute PS4 system libraries with Linux-compatible versions, enabling features like mod support, built-in diagnostics, and FSR 4 upscaling.
Performance capabilities include frame rates reaching 150 FPS at 1440p resolution. However, the project remains in an experimental phase, and a full playthrough has not yet been verified. Users have reported technical hurdles, including crashes and unresponsive menus during character creation.
While this native port progresses, alternative methods for performance improvements exist elsewhere. For instance, modding allows the original PS4 version to achieve 120 FPS at 1080p resolution when played on a PlayStation 5 console.
