Key information
Artist Hiromitsu Kitayama, representing the new Pony Canyon and TOBE music label RED ON, is performing the theme song titled BACKLASH for the anime Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Fall Arc. Marking his first time singing for an animation work since his debut, Kitayama personally wrote the lyrics to capture the imagery of long-suppressed emotions and impulses breaking their critical threshold and awakening, while delicately reflecting the fluctuating emotions of the characters. The digital single was officially released on September 28.
The new track serves as the theme song for the anime broadcasting in October, vivid in its energy and tension. The single's cover art was specially illustrated by Tougen Anki original author Yuya Urushibara, featuring Kitayama wearing an outfit reminiscent of the Demon Country squad and riding a red-toned heavy motorcycle. Additionally, the official YouTube channel has released the music video for BACKLASH, utilizing red and black tones to amplify the song's speed and explosive power.
To prepare for his first anime tie-in, Kitayama carefully read the entire original manga series for inspiration, incorporating the characters' clumsy and rugged traits into the music, noting a particular affinity for Ikari Yaoroshi and Kukinagi Jin. Kitayama expressed his hope to connect with global fans through the anime and shared his strong desire to visit and perform in Taiwan in the future.
