Atari has officially revealed the 800XL retro console, which is now available for pre-order. This new hardware features a design that faithfully recreates the original 800XL, complete with a full-size mechanical keyboard.
The system comes pre-loaded with 25 classic titles, such as Centipede, Missile Command, M.U.L.E., and Battlezone. Users can also utilize a functional cartridge slot compatible with most Atari 400, 800, XL, and XE cartridges, or load software via USB flash drives.
Modern features include the ability to save progress in four slots per game and a rewind function covering up to 30 seconds. The console supports HDMI output with both PAL and NTSC modes, alongside optional CRT filters and customizable display frames.
The package includes a refined THECXSTICK joystick with eight integrated buttons. Connectivity is provided through four USB-A ports for peripherals and a USB-C cable for power, while the system also supports Atari BASIC programming.
