Key information

Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal recently indicated that Arc Raiders might eventually be divided into distinct PvE and PvP modes. While the game was originally conceived as a raid-based co-op experience seven years ago, it was later redesigned into a high-tension PvPvE extraction title.

To explore this potential shift, Embark is hosting a limited test from 13th to 20th October. This trial introduces an opt-in PvE matchmaking toggle that prevents Raiders from damaging one another. The test supports solo, duo, and trio sessions, though it excludes specific content like Night Raids and the Frigate.

Grøndal noted that the studio is evaluating player preferences, as data shows 51 percent of the surveyed community desires a dedicated PvE option. However, the developer cautioned that the test is not a guarantee of a future PvE mode, noting that implementing such changes presents significant design challenges.

Beyond gameplay adjustments, Embark Studios is expanding the franchise's reach. The developer is currently collaborating with Chernin Entertainment to develop film and television adaptations for both Arc Raiders and The Finals.
