Embark Studios has released the Frozen Trail update for Arc Raiders, marking the game's largest patch since its launch. Following a decline in player numbers after its initial 2025 popularity surge, the update arrived on Oct. 8 to revitalize the extraction shooter. The game is currently free-to-play until Oct. 12 at 4 a.m. ET.

The update introduces Pendola Pass, an icy map featuring tougher enemies and new threats. Players can combat these challenges using new weapons like the Bantam and Stiletto, or by upgrading existing gear. Additionally, the patch adds utility gadgets including a grappling hook and cameras for capturing screenshots, alongside an Outpost system where players can craft furniture using lootable design items.

Progression has been overhauled, with the Legacy Pass replaced by the Frozen Trail Pass, which offers both free and premium rewards based on earned Reward Points. Completing quests and milestones now provides XP, allowing for faster leveling. Furthermore, stash capacity has been increased by two levels to a maximum of 328 slots, and players can now open the map while downed.

Despite these additions, Embark Studios has removed the Solo vs. Squads matchmaking option while evaluating its future. To celebrate the update, a Twitch Drop event is running from Oct. 8 through Nov. 4, allowing players to earn backpack attachments by watching streamers.
