Key information
AMD has officially confirmed that its FSR 4.1 upscaling technology will arrive on Ryzen processor integrated graphics by the end of this year. This expansion follows the initial June release of FSR 4.1, which currently supports RDNA 3-based Radeon RX 7000 series desktop graphics cards.
Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Business Group, stated that the company plans to extend FSR 4 technology to a broader range of products. This rollout will encompass APUs, gaming laptops, and handheld mobile devices.
The transition to FSR 4.1 was made possible by shifting from FP8 floating-point operations to an INT 8 integer-based model, a development achieved through collaboration with Sony on the PS5 Pro. This change allows RDNA 3 and RDNA 3.5 hardware to utilize the technology.
Previously, the release was delayed due to the large size of the original AI models. AMD needed to develop lightweight versions to accommodate the core scale and power constraints of integrated graphics and mobile GPUs, ensuring a balance between performance and latency.
