Key information

Czech developer Amanita Design officially unveiled Machinarium 2 during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase. This sequel arrives 17 years after the original 2009 robot adventure, picking up immediately following the first game's conclusion as protagonists Josef and Berta crash-land in a mysterious valley.

The core gameplay introduces a dual-character mechanic, requiring players to switch between Josef and Berta to solve puzzles. Each robot possesses unique abilities, and progression depends on utilizing these distinct traits in tandem to navigate the environment, which is inhabited by two struggling robot tribes.

Maintaining the series' signature style, the game features hand-drawn visuals inspired by Renaissance landscapes and classical sketches. Communication remains entirely non-verbal, relying on dynamic thought bubbles and gestures. While the game supports traditional mouse-based point-and-click controls, the developers recommend using a game controller for an optimal experience.

Composer Tomáš Dvořák, known as Floex, returns to provide a soundtrack blending the original's mechanical aesthetic with mature orchestral arrangements. Currently in development for Windows and macOS, the title is available to wishlist on Steam, which serves as a primary launch platform.
