Key information
The results and award tea party for the Bahamut 2026 ACG Creation Contest have recently been announced, celebrating top-ranking participants across various categories. Among the honorees is the manga category bronze award recipient IewNa 阿呦娜, whose winning short work is titled 《午後雷陣雨》.
Judges praised the work for utilizing abundant and detailed dialogue to construct a complete sense of lingering emotion and atmosphere built up over many years between two characters. The unhurried pace and subtle feelings create a poetic experience tailored for mature readers.
Author IewNa 阿呦娜 noted that the story follows childhood friends reuniting in their hometown years later, carrying impure motives and regrets that prevent them from recovering the past. Background visuals draw heavily from real-world scenes in the Chianan Plain, while the title itself was finalized after sketching the opening banana tree scene, capturing the overcast white sunlight between scorching sun and sudden downpours.
The creator also incorporated olfactory elements, such as shifting scents, to reflect changes in time, location, and interpersonal distance as characters process alteration and loss. Reflecting on the process, the author expressed gratitude to the judges for their encouragement and constructive feedback following the contest.
