KUNOS Simulazioni and 505 Games have officially unveiled a new Free Roam mode for the upcoming racing simulator Assetto Corsa EVO. This feature allows players to explore a 1:1 scale recreation of the Eifel region in Germany, which includes the legendary Nürburgring and its historic Nordschleife circuit.

The mode features a highly detailed open world encompassing the 20.8 km track alongside surrounding villages, roads, and landmarks. Developers have implemented dynamic weather, a day-night cycle, and AI traffic patterns based on real-world trends to enhance immersion. Every road, bridge, and elevation change is modeled to match real-world dimensions.

Co-founder Marco Massarutto described the development as a significant technical challenge that pushed the studio's capabilities. He noted that the team focused on achieving high visual quality and fidelity while overcoming various technical limitations during the long period of closed development.

The Free Roam experience will be playable in both single-player and multiplayer modes. Attendees at the Sim Racing Expo in Frankfurt, held from October 16 to 18, will have the first opportunity to demo the mode on dedicated stations.
