Key information
The manga Manchu Opium Squad has resumed serialization under a new art system in the 45th issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine. Alongside the return of the series, an anime adaptation has been officially announced, though the production studio and broadcast date remain unannounced.
Tsushima has taken over as the new illustrator. Tsushima previously worked as an assistant alongside the late artist Eiji during their time on Kingdom, and has authored works such as Shikyuji Kokokyuuji ni Ashita wa Nai- and Kyogoku Tensei in Young Magazine.
The Young Magazine editorial department and original author Tsukasa Monma expressed deep gratitude and emotional relief upon receiving Tsushima's exceptional first manuscript for chapter 217, praising the artist's dedication to preserving the original worldbuilding and creator's legacy.
Original illustrator Eiji passed away at the age of 37 due to choroidal malignant melanoma. Following the creator's passing and prior wishes, the editorial department sought a successor to carry on the series to its conclusion.
