Key information

Star Wars: Galactic Racer has officially launched on Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Fuse Games, the title introduces a unique runs-based racing structure where crashes are not merely visual spectacles but carry significant gameplay consequences. Players must manage their vehicle's integrity, as excessive collisions can lead to retirement from a tour, forcing a restart.

The game emphasizes player agency through a loop of building and upgrading. Before each race, players select from four vehicle types—including speeder bikes and land speeders—and customize them with various parts and abilities. These components are earned as random rewards, requiring players to adapt their strategies based on available resources and build synergies.

Creative Director Kieran Crimmins and co-founder Steve Uphill highlight that failure serves as a core motivator. The team implemented a procedural camera and physics system to ensure that every crash feels cinematic yet unique. Despite the intensity, the team limited crash animations to eight seconds to maintain the game's fast-paced flow, balancing visual impact with gameplay momentum.

Beyond the campaign, the runs-based system extends to multiplayer, where players compete for XP and customization rewards. The game is currently available for purchase via the Xbox Store.
